Boracay here we are! Day Two!

Boracay here we are! Day Two!

Went out for a run on the beach but ended up walking most of the time. My first time trying this on the beach luckily i brought my aqua socks. Got some korean elderly couple to take a pic of me with the boracay sand sculpture but they managed to cut off the most important thing. Grr.

Here goes day two! First breakfast. Opted for the omelette option. Didn't really like it.

After that we went to get the beach towels from the reception. There was a charge for it.

We got the sombreros each. I got the blue one from daiso before i left but i very much prefer the yellow one i saw there so i passed it to amy. Jewels got her purple one too.

After breakfast we went swimming just in font of the hotel. The water is so clear! There were few schools of white fish near the sand base.

Spent the day lounging at the beach. Then lunch at the hotel cafe again till afternoon time when its a little less sunny. Ordered pineapple smoothie and lumpia and some cocktails and fries.

I saw some koreans making a tiny version of the boracay sculpture and it looked so damn cute! So i told myself that im so definitely gonna make one on my own.

So yours truly spent an hr under the scorching setting sun to carve these out. Nowhere near what the original sculptures look like but its an improvement over my stick writings hahah. After that we took gazillion pictures with it.

Been wanting to do the mermaid pose for ages and finally i did it. King pigeon next! #ambitiousmuch

We caught the sunset and the sailboats - i dont know what they are called, kinda like catamaran also, they were returning back to shore so they are everywhere! What a beautiful sight.

Amy wanted to get some local roadside satay. I took a little bite. She said its intestines. Not to bad. Definitely edible but it leaves an after taste which i dont like. Like a not so well cooked liver.

Had dinner at yellow cab. This pizza place near station one. They also have another outlet near our hotel but it was closed. Pizza was normal. Pasta was yummy. And its san mig light time before we walk back and faint on our beds.

Boracay here we are! Day One

First time flying off to Boracay! Wahoo! Probably a place I would be hesitating heavily to go if i dont have local friends to go with so thanks Amy and Jewels!

Left my place around 9am. Our flight via Tiger to Kalibo was at 1130.

Yes. My face. Thank you.

View from the top of Kalibo. Looks a littlelike  my hometown but with more trees hahah. Reached Kalibo airport around 3pm. Queued a long snake of an immigration line for ages and filled up plenty of forms.

After we passed immigration there wasnt an xray machine so the officers were checking manually one by one the passengers who passed by. Quite a number was asked to open up their handcarry and luggages. We got by alright. I think it depends on you departure point.

Came out of the luggage checkpoint and you can get a local sim card near the exit. And also if you havent prebooked your airport transfer Kalibo-Caticlan ferry terminal you can get it near the entrance. There will be a few booth there providing the service. There are a few cheaper alternatives down the road but not sure how safe those are compared to the ones directly in front of the exit.

So the bus ride took maybe around 2hrs. We stopped briefly at a minimart for snacks and toilet break. Once we reached the ferry terminal we waited for a while before we boarded the ferry. Ferry ride itself is less than 20mins. Its nothing compared to the bus ride. The transfer costs arnd 500p perpax. Set aside 100-200p perpax for various taxes at the ferry terminal. Ferry ride is already included in the initial transfer fee.

The exchange rate i got before i left was around 1sgd=35pesos.

Had our first mango shake out of many at dinner. Super sweet. Not sure if its really mainly the mango or the sugar. But its nice! Face is super oily from the early am hahah.

Sunset here is much earlier before 6pm. Sunrise too. We reached the resort around 7-8pm. So the whole journey took us almost 12hrs. I left my home around 9am. Didnt expect the long duration.

We stayed at Casa Pilar over at station one. There are many resorts a long shore line. This resort is very affordable but i would have to say not very impressive. If you are the kind who likes to be in a luxurious clean hotel then this is not for you. The housekeeping will only clean the room in the afternoon time. We usually are out by breakfast timing so 8am ish. By noon the room is still not made up. When you play with sea water and have sand all over your body it is a little difficult to avoid getting it all around the room and bathroom with is super gross. Dripping wet with sand here and there. And also we always run out of toilet paper before housekeeping time. Im not very a beach person so it feels dirty to me.

So according to A and J station1 is prob quiet aka less crowded than the other stations. Station2 is where the pubs are and station1 i forgot what it is hahah but it feels as crowded as station2.

We had dinner at Casa Pilar restaurant which is in front of our room. I ordered some egg noodles thinking it would be a safe choice but no. Theres this strong smell and after taste that I really dont like. The lumpia shanghai and mango shake are good.

Went for a walk after dinner. There are plenty of eateries along the road. Lots of international selections too like pasta and pizza (ok thats more like italian selection haha) saw signages for macdonalds and subway. If all fails just eat those - my "international" food.

One of the shell lanterns hung up on the coconut trees. Most of the restos have their beach front nicely decorated with chairs tables and lightings.

Lots of peddlers and small shops selling majority of monopods, snacks, slippers and other beach gear esp waterproof pouch for ur mobiles. I broke the one i brought  on the 2nd last day. Luckily didnt need it much after. The one i got was an authentic one from travel shop. The ones they sell here are the thinner ones that i doubt are really waterproof. I bought one to replace the one i broke and there was water droplets in it soon after. Not sure if it went in when I opened it up or it seeped in. I got one for 80p. Thats around 2$++. So if you wanna spend this amount for something waterproof, dont expect much.

Passed by the famous Boracay sand sculpture on the walk back. You need to pay the sculptor if you wanna take picture with it. They are mostly teenage boys so they will stand around and tell you that you need to pay to take pictures. I dont know how much you need to give but maybe 20p is sufficient. Or you can give more if you like of you have loads of people in the pics.

3 Concept Eyes Lip_Color Original & Lip

My first 3 Concept Eyes product! Should have spent more time at Stylenanda going through their stuff but I didnt even go to take a look because I thought there wasnt anything that I wanted. #Stupidfool. And looking through the catalogue online also didnt help to arouse my appetite. Super love this pink tube! Very cleanly packaged. Feels like a solid block.

Colour looks good here. Very natural.
3 Concept Eyes Lip Color_Original in #607 BAAA.

Super loving this swatch. So dainty ermahgerd! I usually dont take on these colours well because Im too yellow and my lips are too dark.

First application. Ok, not too bad. Its a little dry so it will highlight lip creases.

After blotting off. Creases are less visible and looks more natural. Now why cant my narural lip colour be like that!! So much effort just to look natural. #thethingsidoforbeauty hahhaha

Dont know what happened to the lighting. I think my red curtain was reflecting the natural light on my face. Ok so this is with my balm on top. I prefer to have moist lip all the time. Helps me to stop licking it constantly.

Gave it another go. This is probably a more accurate look of the colour. I think it looks not bad here. Very natural. But not suitable for me after a while.

3 Concept Eyes (3CE) Lip Color_Original
#607 BAAA

Pros:
Gorgeous packaging
Matte finishing
Would look fantastic for people with naturally lighter lip colour.

Cons:
Highlights crack of your lips
Not suitable for naturally darker lips
Not very moisturising

Rating
2.5/5

Ordered these too. 3 Concept Eyes (3CE)
Lip Lacquer in Super Coral and Bon Bon.

Bon Bon looks pinkish here but on my lips they look more nude/bare shade. Its because my lips are dark thats why. The Lip_Color Original shade looks better on my lips.

If I apply too much and smack my lips together they will get smudgy and show the natural colour of my lips so I will see dark patches below. Certain lipstick blend in really nicely when you do that but the 3CE ones apparently do not. If I apply too little, no colour shows up. If I apply more, I will end up smearing the lipstick. I ended up giving this colour to my sis in law. It suits her lips better.

This is the Super Coral shade. Looks very pink but doesnt really show on my lips. No matter what I always find myself dabbing my balm over it.

I've come to a conclusion that I shouldnt be getting anymore 3CE lip products unless i get to try them on first or ANY lip products actually. #notetoself #dontyoueverforget #damnyoudarklips

Too Cool For School 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow

Was walking around and decided to pop in to Too Cool For School. I've never really liked getting their stuff here because they are generally more expensive compared to Etude and the other Korean brands. Quality wise I am still not convinced that they might be better. More or less the same as the rest I guess. So far I've only tried their long lasting makeup spray, lipscrub and champagne eyeliner. Probably will do a review on those next time.

I've already done a brief review of the lipscrub here:
http://immec.blogspot.sg/2014/05/etude-house-color-lips-fit.html?m=1

The 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow only comes in one shade #1 Ash Brown. Am thinking now if black or dark grey would be more suitable for me because even if this does natural on me, it is still a little on the light look - too natural maybe? I WOULD LOVEEE to have my natural brow look like this. Omg. That would be perfect.

Same as Etude House Tint My Brow, the tip is like a calligraphy pen. They are almost of the same size.

Read review here for the Etude one:
http://immec.blogspot.sg/2014/10/etude-house-tint-my-brows.html?m=1

Single layer for top stroke and one additional layer down the line. It is pretty waterproof once it dries up.

I still prefer the Etude one better. Wonder why I still wanted to get one from this brand - you always are on the look out for better things (kinda like how some guys think abt their relationship huh). I had hope that it can be better than Etude. But. I was wrong. This tint takes a longer time to look set on the eyebrows. I can see the colour appear faster using the Etude tint. That is the only difference.

The look natural enough. Kinda similar to the Etude tint. Since the colour takes time to set in I have difficulty in shading as in maybe certain spot has enough tint already but I still try to shade them in so they look patchy once they set in. I will definitely stick to Etude House Tint My Brows.

Too Cool For School
1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow
#1 Ash Brown

Pros
Long lasting
Sleek mini packaging
Easy to use

Cons
Takes a longer time to show the tint compared to etude's brow tint

DIY Luggage Tag

Told Ed Im making a luggage tag for him so here I go. You will need:

3 rectangle slabs of felt fabric - different colour, 2 for the base and 1 for the lettering. You can use different fabric too but preferably something sturdy since it will be slammed around during check in. Actually felt is a little fragile for this purpose but i wasnt gonna get 2 yards worth of new fabric just to make this tiny luggage tag.

One string. Use something sturdy too. I dont know what mine is called but Ive been using it for a lot of my DIY projects.

Stuffings. Mine is polyester. The kind they used for stuffed toys. I dont really like this. It goes all over the place when I try to pry them apart but I havent researched on other stuffings I can use. Ive had this pack of stuffing forever. It lasts very long.

Cut out 2 base rectangle pieces to the size that you want. Allow extra 1cm on every sides. This is to allow space for the inner sewings.

Also cut out one square of the other colour for the letterings. Make sure size fits and is proportionate to the base.

I wrote out the letters and then cut them out individually. Would be easier to further cut them into the letter shapes this way.

This is what it looks like after every letter is cut. Was planning to make one for myself too but my name has 8 letters so that sounds tiring already hahha.

When everything looks good, start glueing the letters on the base fabric. Do not use the mini super glue type. They dry up too fast, stiffen up the fabric and you wont be able to poke your needle through it. After the glueing, start sewing the sides of the letter or any kind of sewing you want to keep the letters stitched tight. I guess you can skip this part but I want it to look good and be more durable. The letters look a little poofed up once sewn. I like this effect.

Align both rectangles, outer part facing out and insert the string in the middle portion. Id suggest you do a mock measurement on your luggage to see if the length of the string will be ok.

Pin all sides together once aligned. I usually use paper clips. When i use needles they keep poking me. This will help with the sewing. They will usually shift around if you dont. Allow a good excess length for the string to be sewn inside.

You need to sew all around the fabric and allow a small open space at the bottom or anywhere is also ok. This is for you to flip everything inside out once you are done sewing.

I prefer to use sewing machine. Much faster and sturdier and also neater. If you dont have one, handsewn is fine.

Pull out the string slowly through the open space. Use scissors or chopsticks or whatever thin and long to help to push out the inner part. Be careful with the poking. Felt will stretch if you are too rough. And the stretched look is not pretty.

This is after the reversal. Starting to look good!

Grab your stuffing. I prefer to use stuffing since I wanna make it look fat and poofy. If you want to stop here and not use stuffing you can also do that.

Squeeze a little into the opening. If its not poofy enough just squeeze more till your desired poof.

Once done, sew the bottom part up. This part wont look very nice hence I usually try to keep the area as small as possible but if its too small usually  i have problem squeezing the inner part out.

Ta daaa. Not too bad. Colour doesnt match my luggage but Ed's luggage is white so I think it will pop out nicely.
